Navigating the Emotional Landscape: Understanding the Emotional Scale

May 5 / Kat Linquist

Emotions are the subtle yet powerful currents that shape your everyday experiences, coloring the canvas of your life with hues of joy, frustration, excitement, grief, and everything in between.

Often, you find yourself riding the rollercoaster of emotions, swept away by the highs and lows that accompany the human experience.

But what if you could understand this emotional landscape better? What if you could navigate it with more clarity and intention?

What if you could CHOOSE your response rather than allow the experience to react with your emotions for you?

Enter the Emotional Scale*

A framework that invites you to explore the vast spectrum of human emotions and your relationship with them.

Emotions as Energy:
Vibrations of the Soul

At its core, the Emotional Scale teaches you that emotions are not merely fleeting states of mind but rather energy in motion.

Each emotion carries its own unique vibration, resonating with the very essence of our being. From the gentle hum of contentment to the electrifying surge of passion, emotions shape the way you interact with the world around you, influencing your thoughts, actions, and perceptions.

For most of my adult life I lived in the Low Vibrations of emotions, until I made the decision to change that.  While I didn’t find the Emotional Scale* for many years, my journey was taking me up the scale bit by bit and I was creating higher vibrational foundations along the way.
Finding the Scale helped me see what I was doing in a more tangible way so I could be even more intentional and focused on my Emotional Mastery.

The Spectrum of Low and High Emotional Vibrations

Within the Emotional Scale, emotions are often categorized into low and high vibrations. Low vibration emotions such as fear, anger, and doubt weigh heavily on the soul, anchoring you to the depths of powerlessness and despair.

Conversely, high vibration emotions like positive expectation, belief, enthusiasm, and eagerness, uplift you, propelling you towards states of passion, fulfillment, love, joy, and freedom.

This spectrum is a representation of the vast capacity of humans to experience emotions. The range from despair to freedom encompasses such a variety of feelings, which is what your human experience is all about.

You could simplify this scale to just “Feeling Good” and “Not Feeling Good”.
For there are no ‘bad’ emotions. Feelings are an indicator of where you are energetically at any given moment – without judgment.

You Can't Jump from the
Bottom to the Top

One crucial aspect of the Emotional Scale is recognizing that you can't simply leap from the bottom to the top.

Just as a staircase is climbed one step at a time, so too must you ascend through the Emotional Scale, acknowledging, allowing, and accepting your emotions along the way. Attempting to bypass the lower frequencies only prolongs your journey to higher states of being, trapping you in a cycle of emotional stagnation.

And know that once you are living mostly in the higher vibrations, you may experience something such as the loss of a loved one, a health diagnosis, or involuntary job change which knocks you “down” the scale for a period of time. This is the human experience.

If you have practiced your higher vibrations, the time you spend in the lower vibrations is OK, and nothing to be concerned about. Keep aware of what you are feeling and why. Choosing to experience grief, anger, and frustration are all part of being human. There is no judgment on that.

Allow The Ebb and Flow
of Emotional Range

The range in which you flow within the Emotional Scale is dynamic and ever-changing. External circumstances, internal dialogue, and past experiences all influence your emotional landscape, triggering shifts both upward and downward.

By cultivating self-awareness and mindfulness, you can learn to navigate these fluctuations with grace, embracing the inherent ebb and flow of life.

I experienced tremendous grief at the loss of my beloved feline companion in May 2023. It hit me WAY harder than I expected, and the grief came and went in waves over a few months.

At times my heart still aches painfully for her. Yet, because I have cultivated my higher vibration foundation, I am able to experience the grief, knowing it won't pull me down into the depths of despair and depression.

I could grieve AND feel joy for having had my companion for 9 years during some very difficult times in my life. We definitely lived "9 Lives" together.
She is a soul mate and lives within my heart – Forever Goddess!

Cultivating Your Emotional Home

Ultimately, the Emotional Scale prompts you to ask: where do you want to "live" day to day? Do you wish to dwell in the shadowy depths of despair, or do you aspire to bask in the radiant glow of passion and fulfillment?

While you cannot control the external events that impact and shape your life (your fate), you do possess the power to choose your emotional response to them (your destiny). By consciously cultivating emotions that align with your higher self, you pave the way for a life filled with meaning, purpose, and authentic connection.

In the past few months (March/April 2024) I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer and received a double mastectomy surgery as the best course of action to prevent the spread of the cancer.

I decided upon my diagnosis that I would accept my “fate” and create my “destiny” through my Emotional Mastery and stay positive, seeing the freedoms this new body would give me.  It is a pathway I never considered yet I find myself upon it, so I will follow it and create an amazing life for myself along the way.

The doctors and nurses were impressed with my positive attitude and meditation practice while waiting for the surgery. I have embraced this experience with little dip in my vibration and choose to see it as the next great adventure in my human experience.
